Make your lock screen read like the song it was written for.
Paste a line and set it on a clean background the exact size of a phone or desktop screen. Pick 9:16 portrait for your lock screen or 16:9 landscape for your monitor. Download the PNG and drop it straight into your wallpaper picker. No upload, runs in your browser.
Your words
One line per row. Portrait keeps up to 9 lines, landscape up to 5 — beyond that it cuts, never shrinks.
Portrait exports 1080 x 1920. Landscape exports 1920 x 1080. The red accent line sits near the bottom.
Wallpaper preview
This is the exact layout the PNG will export, scaled down to fit.
Only the first lines fit. The rest were cut — keep the wallpaper short.
A wallpaper is background, not a poster. Leave empty space for your app icons.
What makes a good lyric wallpaper
A wallpaper lives behind your icons and your clock. Four choices keep it readable instead of noisy.
Dark backgrounds win
Ink black reads cleanest behind bright app icons. Paper and cream are softer, but they fight light-colored icons. If you use a light phone theme, pick cream; if dark, ink.
Few lines, big type
The point is a line you glance at every time you pick up the phone. Four to eight words, large serif type, tons of empty space. A full verse becomes illegible the moment icons land on it.
Centered, not crammed
The lyric sits in the middle of the screen on purpose — that is where the eye goes when you raise the phone. Lock the words to the center band and the clock, date, and icons stay clear.
The red anchor
The thin red line near the bottom gives the composition a foot to stand on. Without it, floating serif words can feel unfinished. It is small on purpose — a detail, not a headline.
Wallpaper that works vs. wallpaper that fights you
Same line, two treatments. One sits quietly behind your icons, the other disappears under them.
| Works as wallpaper | Fights you |
|---|---|
| “We were two on that wet platform”centered, dark, plenty of empty room around it | The whole verse, all eight lines, small type on paperevery word gets covered by an icon |
| Title set small above the lyric, letter-spacedreads like a caption, not a headline | Title the same size as the lyric linesnothing tells the eye where to start |
The left column treats the wallpaper like a stage that your icons visit. The right column treats it like a poster — and posters do not survive a home screen.
How to use it
Under a minute, no account, no upload.
- Paste the line you want to live with, one line per row
- Pick portrait or landscape and a background — watch the preview swap shapes
- Hit Download PNG, then set it as your lock screen or desktop background in your phone or computer settings
What this tool can not do
It exports a clean 9:16 or 16:9 image, but every phone has a slightly different screen — notches, punch holes, and rounded corners can cover an edge. If a corner gets cut, crop the PNG in your phone’s picker; the centered lyric is built to survive that.
It will not match your phone’s exact resolution, and it will not layer the live clock or widgets. This is a static background, not a theme engine. The wrapping is character-based, so a long word may sit a touch wider — take it into your editor if you need pixel-perfect.
About this tool
Built by Alex, the one-person operation behind FreeLyricsAI. I kept setting song lyrics as my lock screen by hand — screenshot, crop, export, re-crop — and realized the whole job is: pick a line, pick a dark background, center it. So I built this page to do that in three seconds.
It runs entirely in your browser because your drafts are yours. The layout math lives right in the page source — steal it, argue with it, and send me lines that wrap badly so I can fix the rules.
